Volt & Spoke assembly workshop in Boulder

How We Got Here

Volt & Spoke started because we got tired of the same problem every e-bike buyer faces: range numbers that don't hold up, parts you can't replace, and customer service that disappears after the sale.

We figured if we controlled the whole process, from design to assembly to delivery, we could fix all three. So that's what we did. We set up shop in Boulder, hired people who actually ride, and started building bikes the way we thought they should be built.

That was five years ago. The bikes have gotten better. The principle hasn't changed.

We Ride What We Sell

Every range number on our spec sheet comes from actual trail rides. A 175 lb tester, mixed assist levels, real elevation gain. When we say 55 miles on singletrack, that's because someone on our team rode 55 miles on singletrack.

We publish the testing methodology right on the product page. No asterisks, no fine print, no "up to" disclaimers. If the number doesn't hold up in the real world, we don't print it.

Standard Parts on Purpose

It would be cheaper to use proprietary components. Custom battery connectors, non-standard headsets, branded brake rotors. Plenty of companies do it because it locks you into buying replacements from them.

We went the other direction. Every Volt & Spoke bike uses industry-standard interfaces. Shimano drivetrains. Common bearing sizes. Standard brake pad compounds. Your local bike shop already has the tools and the parts to work on your bike. That was a deliberate choice, and we make it on every model.

What We Promise

Honest Range Numbers

Tested on trails with real riders. Published with full methodology. No lab conditions, no fine print.

Lifetime Frame Warranty

We build frames that last. If ours doesn't, we replace it. Simple as that.

Every Part Available

Brake pads, bearings, battery cells, chain rings. If it wears out, we sell the replacement. Your bike is never obsolete.

Real People on the Phone

Call us and you talk to someone who builds bikes. Not a call center, not a chatbot. Someone who can actually help.

From Our Riders

Bought my Ridgeline Pro online, sight unseen. Called with a question about seat height before it shipped. The guy who answered helped design the frame geometry. That kind of thing doesn't happen at other companies.

I'm on my third e-bike. The first two are collecting dust because I can't get parts for them anymore. My Volt & Spoke is two years old and my shop services it like any other bike. That's the whole point.

Took the Metro GT on a test ride expecting to return it. That was eight months and 3,000 miles ago. I sold my car.

My wife and I could never ride together because I'm way faster. Got her a Pathfinder with pedal assist and now we do 20-mile rides every weekend. Should have done this years ago.
